Pat Ryan Wins Democratic Assignment In New York’s Eighteenth District – Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan has won the Democratic primary in New York’s eighteenth Congressional District, setting up a battle with state Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, the Republican candidate.
Ryan beat down two contenders for the Democratic position in the Hudson Valley area, while Schmitt was unopposed as the Republican chosen one.
The redrawn eighteenth District was a cutthroat seat and was left open when Democratic Congressional Committee Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) chose to run in the new seventeenth District, which was better to Democrats.
Ryan is likewise on the polling form for the unique political race in the old nineteenth District and in the event that he wins would enjoy the benefit of being an occupant in his bid for a full term addressing the eighteenth District.
